And here we see the disaster that is ANet marketing. They kept emphasizing this was just a nice little bonus if you bought something in the online store you would normally want anyway.

The truth is, many wound up buying 30.00 of stuff they did not want and could not use in order to get the pack. It's refreshing to see someone regard that 30.00 purchase to be the bonus they got with the BMP - most are going to feel cheated if every one else gets it for 5 bucks.

I did not buy because I did not like how they handled the whole promotion to begin with but I will ....

/sign

but only with the provision that it cost $30.00 and is sold in places other than the online store (which was the major problem in the first place)

(As a side note - I strongly suspect they have always had every intention of offering this separately after the promotion. This was a try-out of the online store and any content from this point on will be standalone purchasable units sold through the online store only. I believe this was their way of transitioning from box copies to strictly electronic ones. So for those of you who are upset that they might offer it by itself - get over it. It's gonna happen. And for those of us who did not buy because we do not like the way the online store works - tough luck - I bet that's the only way they distribute any content between now and GW2)

If you already got it dont be selfish and try to prevent others from it. Also to everyone moaning about GW:EN, you didnt have to buy it so grow up.

If they released it I'd probably buy it because it wouldnt be a issue but buying it online is so it would be better. I doubt it will happen but you can hope I guess...

You were not forced to buy it so stop whining, its really pathetic. Buying stuff you dont need for something else you dont need, smart thinking.

Sorry I don't see the point in allowing for shiftless people with no plastic. This is an obvious marketing ploy just think about it. If A Net sells in a brick and mortar store they pay for the CD manufacturing and the packaging and the shipping. All of that comes out of their profit. If they sell in the online store they have only the overhead of actually making the code to consider so yeah they are going to give people incentives to buy from the online store and I don't think that those incentives should be available to just everyone otherwise it defeats the point of it being an incentive or reward.

It was a bonus for buying through the online store. I dont expect a tshirt/poster/whatnot to get shipped to me if some brick store offered one with purchase and I went elsewhere.

Though it might be kind of nice if the contests in the future offer a key for it as a prize option. If there was a DA key offered for a contest prize I would bet quite a few people would try harder with their entries.

And I DON'T have it, or GW:EN.

I saw the promotion, I knew it existed, it was hard not to see it (but then again some players don't even read the login announcements), I chose not to take part in it knowing full well I'd be left out on the bmp. Did I have the money? Sure. But I had other things I needed to spend my money on.

If it's decided later on that the promotion will run again, perhaps I'll take part then. If the bmp is sold in stores, I'll give it the same consideration. If the bmp is gone for good, so be it. Guild Wars games are a luxury for me. I have and will only make the purchase when I can afford it without crossing my budget lines and saftey nets. I can't play the stupid card and pretend I didn't know any better about the promotion, or that I should blame Anet for making priority out of my personal funds.

A limited time bonus promotion is exactly what it says. I'll live with it, or in this case, without it.

here is what it officially says and it looks pretty clear to me that this is indeed a limited offer take it or lose it

Quote:
Spend a total of $29 USD (€26/£17) or more in the Guild Wars In-Game Store or purchase and activate any product worth $29 USD (€26/£17) through the PlayNC online store, between Noon Pacific Time July 5, 2007 and 11:59 PM Pacific Time October 31, 2007.
You can spend the required amount all at once, or over time; your purchases will be tracked and once you meet the requirement, you will qualify to receive the Bonus Mission Pack!
The Details
The Bonus Mission Pack will release in November. This promotion is non-transferable and is limited to one per account. The Bonus Pack will only be available to the exact account that fulfills this promotion in the in-game store or the exact account on which a qualifying Guild Wars product is activated that has been purchased in the PlayNC store.

The BMP was offered for an extended period of time with full disclosure that it was ONLY available for that limited period. People either qualified or didn't, and it's time people take responsibility for their own actions, instead of blaming Anet for every last thing.

However, I don't see why Anet did the promotion how they did when the entire point of offering it as incentive was to create revenue. The made quite a bit more off people buying 3 character slots than those buying EotN, but I'm sure Anet knows what it's doing.

Not mine, I was making a generalised comment on what appeared to be believed by quite a few posters on this subject in previous discussions, and was never "corrected" by ANet in the firm way I'd expect, if there truly was no possibility of the pack appearing in the store.

Sorry Loviatar, but you do understand that this debate is not about what the offer was, but whether or not the product can be made available in any other way, don't you? None of your quotes, even with the bold, measure up to a statement that the product will never be made available in any other way.

Just curious, but when Disney re-release all their junk in the run-up to Christmas with "only for a limited time" stickers on the covers - do you actually believe them?

Look people,do you cry when the McRib goes away? Do you demand that the manager make you one even though it's been gone for a month? No of course not. It's a limited time offer. That means that once that time expires it's done. You missed out. No pork goodness for you. Do you demand that the collector's edition exclusives be made available for your purchase? Well maybe you do but I hate to say it it won't happen. you missed out on the window to acquire that goodness. Now this offer was not only blasted on the log in screen for weeks but posted on the website and the official wiki. You would have to be playing this game in braille to miss it. It clearly stated that the BMP would be available to anyone who spent X amount of dollars between date A and date B. Do you see the finality of that time line? It says the promotion starts here and it ends here. You missed out. Too bad. You had every opportunity that the rest of us did.

it says it will be available for FREE during that limited period. I don't think it says its EXCLUSIVE, get it now or never.

Seems clear enough to me. Go ahead and cry about it if you want to, but I think 4 months and enough promotion went into it that people should stop whining.
Gaile was already very clear on this. It will not happen.

that phrase means the promotion is not transferable maybe to other account? have you think about it. if it mean after the promotion you won't get the pack, it would probably says something along the line of: "The Bonus Pack Offers will not be available after the promotions period."

What is will be. if not, well I have mine mission pack, both accounts :P but I think other player who wishes to get it later can get it with a reasonable price.

PS: limited edition and limited time offers are 2 different type of promotion.... one is exclusive the other is non-exclusive.

plus the bonus mission pack, don't necessary have to be called a bonus mission pack after this, it can be called an upgrade. *throw hints at Anet*

If they do end up offering it in the in-game store, I would like a Eye of the North box sent to my home, free of charge and shipping. The only reason I used that damn store and missed out on having a box for my shelf was for the BMP.

I bought GW:EN from the online store and didn't really see the point of the box lol. Who knows whats going to happen, but i don't see how people can just happen to afford the BMP after they were given months of time to buy it.

Plus, most of the people who are /signing it didn't want to buy it or have bought it already.
